550-space Pasco RV resort wins initial approval over public objections

DADE CITY — The controversial East Pasco RV Resort got its first formal approval this week from the Pasco County Commission over the objections of residents who say the plan doesn’t match rural development standards the county promised for that area.

The development is proposed for 131 acres east of Lake Iola Road and south of Blanton Road. The site, adjacent to Interstate 75 but surrounded by agricultural lands, will feature 550 parking spots for recreational vehicles, a clubhouse, two miles of trails and landscaping and buffers.

The proposal was first submitted in 2019 with 675 RV spaces, but after discussions with the community, the plan was scaled back. From the beginning, area residents have fought the development, arguing that the county has development protections in place to keep the rural ambiance in that area.
